Sharon Walker, 76, was traveling northbound on Campbell Avenue at 10:02 a.m. on Dec. 6 when she attempted to turn west on Walnut Lawn Street, according to a Springfield Police Department news release. Her 2004 Honda CR-V was struck by a 2014 BMW i8 being driven by Steven Kitrel, 44.

Walker was taken to a hospital to be treated for her injuries. According to the release, Walker died of her collision-related injuries on Dec. 27. The investigation regarding the circumstances of the collision remains open, but police say impairment is not believed to be a factor.
