A 42-year-old woman who was hit by a pickup truck on March 6 died on March 21 as a result of her injuries, and Springfield police are still trying to identify the driver who hit her.

Donna Campbell, 42, was walking westbound across Kansas Expressway near the McDonald Access Road at about 8:30 p.m. on March 6 when a northbound pickup hit her. The driver left the scene in the pickup after striking Campbell, according to Springfield police.

Campbell was transported to a hospital with critical injuries, according to police. Police say she succumbed to her injuries from the collision on March 21. Campbell’s family has been notified. This is the eighth traffic fatality in the city this year.

Springfield police continue to search for the driver who struck and killed Campbell. The only details provided by police about the vehicle that hit Campbell are that it was a dark-colored pickup truck.

Springfield police ask anyone with information about the crash, the suspect vehicle or the unidentified driver to call the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 or submit an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers at 417 869-TIPS (8477)
