David Jones, a circuit judge in Greene County, has notified Missouri Chief Justice Paul Wilson of his retirement, effective June 14.

Jones joined the 31st Circuit bench on Jan. 1, 2009, and was retained in 2014 and 2020. In his most recent Missouri Bar Association rating, given in 2020, he substantially met overall judicial performance standards. In 2013, Jones was named Circuit Judge of the Year by Uniting Families of Missouri for his work with adoptive families.

Jones is a member of the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association and has taught juvenile law and ethics as an instructor for Continuing Legal Education programs.

Prior to his time in the 31st Judicial Circuit, Jones was an assistant district attorney in Philadelphia in 1978 and spent time as an Assistant United States Attorney with the Department of Justice from 1979-2006.
