The Greene County Commission awarded more than $634,099 its latest round of funding for American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) small business applications.
The Commission awarded funding to 51 small businesses in Greene County, spending down the program’s remaining balance nearly a year away from the Dec. 31, 2024 obligation deadline under federal law. More than $5.4 million has been awarded in the small business program to date.
The latest round of awards are among a larger batch of applications that are still being reviewed by Greene County government officials, all stemming from the second application window that was open between Sept. 13 and Oct. 4, 2023.
Lyle Foster, the county’s ARPA grant and equity specialist, said there are just under 100 pending applications. Approximately $1.4 million remains in the program’s fund. How any remaining fund balance will be spent after grants to all outstanding applications are decided will be up to the Greene County Commission.
More than $1.14 million was awarded to 80 businesses in October, with more than $3.65 million having been awarded through the program to 314 businesses in 2022.
