The Greene County Historic Courthouse is hosting the annual Flag Day ceremony on Wednesday, June 14, celebrating the establishment of the U.S. flag on June 14, 1777, by the second Continental Congress.

The Ozark Mountain chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will give a presentation, accompanied by a musical performance by the Courthouse Chorale and a proclamation given by the Greene County Commission.

“The County Commission is pleased to partner once again with the Ozark Mountain Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution in an effort to enliven the patriotic spirit of our citizens and to invest our people with a deeper sense of heritage and community roots,” said Greene County Presiding Commissioner Bob Dixon in a press release. “We invite all citizens to join us.”

The event is open to the public, taking place in the rotunda of the Historic Courthouse at 10 a.m. The courthouse is located at 940 N. Boonville Avenue in Springfield.
