The Springfield-Greene County Health Department is on the move. Temporarily, that is.
The Health Department is relocating to the fourth floor of the Cox Medical Tower, located at 1443 N. Robberson Ave., as its current home — Harold K. Bengsch building in the City Government Plaza — is set to undergo renovations.
The Bensch building will close to the public on Feb. 26, and the public services it offers will resume on March 4 in the Cox Tower. Those public services include STI testing and treatment, vaccinations, records offices and other lab services.
Health Department services outside of the Bengsch building, including Animal Control and Women, Infants and Children (WIC) programming, will not be affected by the move.
A spokesperson for the Health Department said services are expected to return to the Bengsch building in the summer, following the replacement of its HVAC system.
“Cox Medical Tower was carefully selected to ensure minimal disruption to services during this transition,” a press release from the Health Department reads. “The facility is located 0.7 miles directly north of the Bengsch Building and along an existing bus line. Elevators are available for public use.”
