The City of Springfield rolled out its new cloud-based budgeting and transparency portal, OpenGov, according to a Feb. 7 press release.
The portal will result in a more streamlined, collaborative budgeting process for city employees, as well as publicly available reports and data, according to the release. The second phase of implementing the portal was completed Feb. 7.
The portal includes financial dashboards, reports, Springfield Police Department data and audits. The portal also includes a user-friendly section with frequently asked questions and illustrative charts, according to the release.

“We think it’s important to be able to share data quickly and effectively, both internally and with our citizenry,” City Manager Jason Gage wrote in the release. “The transition to OpenGov has really brought our budgeting process into the 21st century.”
The data available in the portal will continue to expand as the city adds performance metrics and tracks them accordingly, according to the release.
