With the deadline to pay personal property and real estate taxes quickly approaching, Greene County Collector of Revenue Allen Icet urges property owners still waiting on tax statements to ensure their address of record is up-to-date.

The Collector’s Office is reporting thousands of 2023 tax statements were returned to the county, primarily due to incorrect addresses of citizens. Statements are mailed to addresses on file with the Greene County Assessor’s Office, as required by state statute.

While the Collector’s Office is trying to determine the correct addresses, citizens will face penalty fees and interest charges if they don’t pay personal property and real estate taxes by midnight on Dec. 31.

Statements can be viewed and taxes paid online on the Collector’s website. Citizens can also pay over the phone by calling 888-523-0054, or in-person at the Greene County Historic Courthouse, 940 N. Boonville Ave. in Springfield, until 5 p.m. on Dec. 29. Mailed payments must be postmarked by the U.S. Postal Service by Dec. 31 to be considered on-time.

Greene County property owners can update their address of record and inquire about the tax amount by contacting the Assessor’s Office at assessoronline@greenecountymo.gov or by calling (417) 868-4101.

The Collector’s Office can be reached via email at collectorhelp@greenecountymo.gov, or by phone at (417) 868-4036.
