Springfield police responded to two separate incidents of people being shot in the head on Dec. 28. The two shootings were about an hour apart, Springfield Police Department spokesperson Cris Swaters said.
At 9:17 p.m., Springfield police officers responded to a report of a man with a gunshot wound to the head at the 800-block of North Concord Avenue, Swaters said. The officers located the victim, who was taken to a Springfield hospital in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, she said.
The circumstances of the shooting are unknown at this time and it is an ongoing investigation, Swaters said.
At 9:44 p.m., Springfield officers responded to a report at a Casey's gas station and convenience store, located at 2805 N. Kansas Expressway, and found a women with a gunshot wound to the head. The injured woman was transported to a hospital and as of Dec. 28 was in critical, but stable condition, Swaters said.
The shooting was the result of a dispute between two people that knew each other, Swaters said. A 28-year-old woman was arrested on pending charges of first-degree assault or attempt, according to Greene County Jail records.
