Springfield police are searching for information after a man and a woman were shot to death Dec. 28.

Springfield police officers went to a business at 10:15 p.m. to check on a man who reportedly had injuries to his face. The address given in a report from police is the Kearney Street Truck Wash at the intersection of Link Avenue and East Turner Street, just east of the intersection of Kearney Street and Glenstone Avenue. Officers found Deundrea Woods, 30, in a driveway, and found he had been shot “several times.”

Woods was taken to a Springfield hospital and reportedly died of his injuries. Police determined Woods was “associated with” a house on Link Avenue, less than a block south of the truck wash. They went to the house and found an infant alone.

Officers went inside the house to check on the baby, and found Mackenzie Lashley-Childers, 25, dead of “multiple gunshot wounds.” The child was taken to a Springfield hospital and then released into the care of a family member.

Police have not publicly identified a person or persons of interest in connection with the shooting. Detectives ask anyone with information about the deaths of Woods and Lashley-Chlders to contact the Springfield Police Department at 417-864-1810 or make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers at 417-869-TIPS (8477).
