A Springfield man died Sunday afternoon after the vehicle he was driving traveled off the road and struck a tree in Cedar County.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, 28-year-old Daniel R. Davis was driving a 2004 Honda Accord east on County Road 676 about six miles north of Stockton when the vehicle traveled off the road and down an embankment, striking the tree at around 1 p.m.

Davis was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
