Text from our SGF Weekend email newsletter, written by Managing Editor Brittany Meiling

Happy Saturday, weekend readers! I'm going to start today with some of our most interesting and well-read stories from the week — in case you missed them. In honor of these recently chilly nights, I'm starting with chili.

You may have heard our most recognizable chili spot shut down this summer to relocate to another iconic spot. People have been wondering when Casper's was coming back, so our columnist Steve Pokin tracked down an update.

Reporter Rance Burger was on fire this week, and filed two great stories about Springfield's growth: a major new development going in on C-Street, and a massive Buc-ee's-related utility project for which CU is footing the bill.

Looking for things to do this weekend? Shannon Cay Bowers reminds us that Pridefest is taking over the square this weekend. There are also outdoor concerts in the park every Sunday in October. If you're up for a drive, the iconic Apple Butter Makin' Days runs all weekend in Mount Vernon, which is about a 40-minute drive from Springfield.
