The Hauxeda’s Living in Fear series resumes Monday with Part 2: Obstacles to leaving. Reporters Steve Pokin and Jackie Rehwald will explain how complicated abusive relationships can be, and how difficult exiting can be. As a prelude, opinion columnist Julie Higgins shares how she was — understandably — stunned by some of the findings in Part 1. She also encourages us all to be better allies for people who may be experiencing abuse or violence.

In this week’s Lives Remembered feature, Mike O’Brien explains how the remarkable Wilma Eubanks worked up to the age of 98, stopping just two weeks before she died. She had a work ethic that was unmatched, a bit of a sweet tooth, a bit of a lead foot, and a massive sense of caring for her family and her coworkers.
