We’re just two days from the day Greene County voters go to the polls to decide the fate of Springfield Public Schools’ Proposition S, the future makeup of the Springfield Board of Education, three spots up for grabs on the Springfield City Council and a race for the mayor’s office. If you’ve been tuning out the campaign ads and no-look tossing those mailers in the trash, catch up with our comprehensive Voting Guide, available with no subscriber access required (subscriptions are required to read some of the in-depth pieces linked inside).

Our most-read story of the week proved Springfieldians love chili — Casper's chili to be specific. You all also seem quite fond of the Quonset hut at 601 West Walnut Street. Steve Pokin got the lowdown on the hut, plus the future site of Casper's at what was once Anton's.

News broke Friday when a Greene County judge denied a motion to dismiss some University Heights residents’ lawsuit against the would-be developers of lots at the corner of Sunshine Street and National Avenue. That means the court case and the Springfield Planning and Zoning case for BK&M and developers Ralph Duda III and Anthony Tolliver are both still active.

You can be a good neighbor by creating a work of art on your front lawn, or just by going around Springfield to check out what artists are doing. University of Missouri Extension County Engagement Specialist David Burton introduces us to LAWN, a way for amateurs and professionals to create public artwork for all of us to enjoy.

Jordan Walker got a hit in his first big league at-bat with the St. Louis Cardinals, driving home the realization that he’s probably not coming back to Springfield and Double-A ball anytime soon. Watching the young lions move up to future stardom is part of the deal down here in the minor leagues. Lyndal Scranton takes us on a trek through Springfield Cardinals history in a salute to 10 of the best prospects who ever laced them up in the 417, making for an excellent dream lineup.
