Here are some truths about Springfieldians: we like our restaurant scene, we like to check out new stores, and we enjoy a good building project. Two out of three of these truths are evident in our most-read story of the week, Joe Hadsall’s visit to Bricks and Minifigs. For those who love to build or watch someone else build, and for those who enjoy browsing a new store, Bricks and Minifigs is the place to be for Lego. Hadsall even managed to encounter Harold Moody, who is — no hyperbole — Springfield’s most prominent Lego builder.

In other shopping and building project news, Jack McGee got to the bottom of what a developer called the worst-kept secret in Springfield. That $60 million development in the works at West Sunshine and West Bypass? A second Springfield Target store. McGee has a whole lot more from the center of the bullseye, known as Sunshine Town Centre.

Columnist Paul Kincaid started his new piece with “It’s time for Missouri to abolish driver’s licenses,” which caused me to guffaw. Then I read his description of what the average Missourian goes through from the ages of 16 and 18 to gain full-fledged driving privileges, and I thought maybe he made some fair points. It’s a lot. Kincaid also saves a twist for the second half.
