It may be a little cooler than ideal, but there’s tons of fun to be had this weekend in Springfield.

Whether you’re going to see “Toy Story 4” at the Springfield Art Museum at 1 p.m., headed to see the Ozark Mountain Daredevils as part of the Earth Day Festival (now indoors at Jordan Valley Ice Park), or have somewhere else to be, you’re sure to have a good time.

Then on Sunday, head to Historic Commercial Street and check out C-Art, your chance to see inspiring visual art, catch performances and actually mingle with the artists creating the stuff you just admired. Next week, from April 26-30, you can head to the E-Plex at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds for the Friends of the Library Book Sale, where there’s more than just books for sale and the benefits to Greene County’s libraries are huge.

Before you go anywhere, columnist Paul Kincaid wants to make sure you know the rules of the road. He somewhat cheekily put together this quiz on driving laws and etiquette, with just the right dose of seriousness to make me acknowledge all of my bad driving habits. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say Paul has been following me on my morning drives to the office.

If sub-60 degree temperatures have you opting to curl up on the couch under a blanket, we’ve got some good reads you might have missed. Check out Jackie Rehwald’s coverage of a pilot program at CoxHealth hospitals that gives members of Springfield’s aging population a new volunteer opportunity, and dig into Cory Matteson’s story about a community banding together to help a teacher whose SUV was stolen at knifepoint and then crashed into the golf course at Twin Oaks.

We’ll do our best to cover Springfield’s news and happenings, and we wish you all a happy and safe Earth Day weekend.
