SGF Weekend: It's time for me to take a hike

Well, folks, by the time you're reading this newsletter, I'll have wrapped up my final week as managing editor of the Hauxeda. Beers were had, tears were spilled (OK, mostly by me), and the staff surprised me with a life-size cutout that will live in the newsroom after I'm gone. (I promise this is an inside joke, and not creepy at all.)

Enough about me, let's talk about some good stories! This week, readers flocked to read Sony Hocklander's latest hiking guide — a piece about how to traverse a gorgeous bike park on foot. About 30 minutes south of Springfield, Two Rivers is a hidden gem complete with a waterfall.

Since the weather is starting to warm up, let me remind you that we have a whole slew of hiking guides, road trip guides — and even water guides to get you out on our rivers and lakes. I've included a couple of seasonal hiking guides in the line-up below, which make great spring destinations.

If you're feeling the indoors instead, check out Jeff Kessinger's preview of “Hedda Gabler” at the Springfield Contemporary Theatre. It's a modern twist on a classic, and it's showing this weekend.
