Weekend reads: Getting to know north central Springfield

Friday was a near-60-degree day in December. I accidentally roasted my winter garden by forgetting to crack a window. (Sigh). While the temps are expected to drop this weekend, it will still be some of the best weather we're going to get for a while. Lots of rain is on the horizon! So here's my advice for this weekend:

• Get all outdoor fun out of the way today (while the sun is shining). Sony Hocklander has a new story about exploring north central Springfield, which includes details about some gorgeous parks and trails for winter walks. It's part of a series about adventuring through local neighborhoods, so check out the others when you're done!

• After you've got the exercise wrapped up, stock up on some of these Springfield-made (and Rogersville-made) adult bevs. Juliana Goodwin has some suggestions for holiday-party-worthy drinks for those feeling festive. You might want to cozy up with a s'mores cocktail during our rainy week ahead.

Oh, and don't forget it's the last weekend to see “Disney's Aladdin” if that's on your theatre to-do list!
