On March 7, 2024 The “Larger Than Life Legend” Lillian Elizabeth McCafferty burst through the gates of Heaven with her wit and sense of humor.

Her grandmother and mother immigrated to the United States from Switzerland. She grew up in Romulus, Michigan with a very large family. She was the last one standing among eight hilarious Russell brothers and sisters.

Lillian was a very hard worker her whole life. As a young girl, she started working at her local corner drug store. She then went on to work as a telephone operator until she met and married Clell Bennie McCafferty. Within a few years, the family moved to Nixa, Missouri. It was there they opened their first of numerous businesses. First, they started a Furniture and Upholstery Store on Main Street. But sadly after the store burned down, the family joined the restaurant business. In Springfield, they built and opened the Monterey Restaurant, The Skylark, and the popular and hip Alibi Room Lounge.

Lillian also worked in the Venture bakery, Nixa school cafeterias, and McDonald's.

Preceding her in death were Clell Bennie, Tommy, Rueben, Jack, Robin, and Pam McCafferty.

She will be deeply missed by her children, daughter Bunny Hedgpeth, husband Kelly, and son Bennie Mccafferty, wife Leslie. Her many grandkids, great-grandkids, and nieces and nephews adored her, and will especially miss playing all types of games with her.

Lillian's Celebration of Life will be on May 18 at Adams Funeral Home in Nixa, Missouri. Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. and service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Payne Cemetery immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Payne Cemetery Trust, located at 1445 W. Gooch St. Nixa, MO. 65714.
