Mary Jo Kirkey, 90 of Ozark, passed away on February 19, 2024, as the grandfather clock struck 6 p.m.

She was born March 23, 1933, at home in Forsyth, MO, to Douglas and Merle Mahnkey.

From a young age, Mary Jo was rarely seen without an animal at her side or in her lap. Her deep love of animals and pets meant she never turned away a stray dog or cat, therefore our house was always filled with well-loved and happy pets. She and her husband, Richard, loved to travel and experience new places. Their travels took them all over the world. Mary Jo held her family and dear friends deep within her heart. You knew you were loved when you were near her.

Her husband Richard, parents and brother Pat preceded her.

Mary Jo leaves behind her loving daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Chris Sandberg, son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Debbie Kirkey, and brother William Mahnkey, as well as grandson Chris, granddaughter Maggie Dyke and six great-grandchildren.

The family requests that you dress bright and lively for a short celebration of Mary Jo’s life held at Klingner-Cope Rivermonte on March 1, 2024, at 10 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the animal shelter or animal rescue of your choice.
