Paula Sue Sivils, 85 of Springfield, passed away on April 7, 2024, after a long illness.

Paula was born in Ash Grove, Missouri, to Paul Smith and Anna Mae (Edwards) Smith on January 9, 1939.

Paula, attended Hanover High School, in Hanover, KS. She went on to earn a degree in Guidance and Counseling at SMSU in Springfield then obtained her Masters degree from SMSU and became a licensed Missouri counselor. Over the next 20 years Paula helped countless people through her private counseling practice.

Paula was married to James L. Sivils, Jr. in 1957. To this union were born two sons, James “Jamie” Lloyd Sivils, III and Daniel “Dan” Blake Sivils.

Paula is survived by son, Jamie Sivils and wife Andrea of Springfield, MO; son, Dan Sivils of Del Mar, CA; grandchildren Ashley, Henry, Andy and Ronnie Sivils, and great-grandchildren Vivienne and Archie Sivils all of Springfield MO.

Paula held a strong conviction that happiness was a choice, and she spent her life modeling this behavior to others. Paula was an amazing Mother and gave her sons the gift of unconditional love. She had a special talent for listening with empathy and over time Paula's kitchen table became the Grand Central Station for numerous young people seeking out a little extra “Mothering”. Paula’s life was full of friends who soaked in Paula's unconditional/non-judgmental love.
