Gary W. Johnson, 69 of Bolivar, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Citizens Memorial Hospital Bolivar, MO.
He was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Anita VanVacter March 29, 1974, and to this union two daughters were born. He received both his bachelor’s and Master’s degree from UMKC. He retired from Amoco Petroleum as Director of Operations. He volunteered with the SCORE organization.
Gary is survived by his wife of 49 years Anita of the home; two daughters: Sheri Bennett and her husband Austin, and Kristy Watts and her husband Eric all of Kansas City, MO; two grandsons: Alexander and Kellen Watts of Kansas City, MO; a sister Brenda Loftus of Indianola, IA; a niece Shana Loftus of Indianola, IA; as well as many other relatives and friends.
According to Gary’s wishes his body will be cremated.
A memorial visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 pm Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Pitts Chapel.
Inurnment will take place at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery Bolivar, MO.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Pitts Chapel Bolivar, MO.
