Walter Luvenda Cowart, 81 of Springfield, passed away on June 3, 2024.

Walter served the United States Small Business Administration for 38 years. He was involved in the Springfield Symphony, Springfield Contemporary Theatre, Landers Theatre, Drury University’s Intergenerational Rock Band, Men’s Chorus of the Ozarks, The Institute for Lifelong Learning, and the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Laura, daughters Shannon (Peter) and Amanda (Lori) of Springfield, Missouri; son Isaac (Amanda Leigh) of Manitowish Waters, Wisconsin; sister Charlotte Preston of Crescent City, Florida; and others.

At Walter's request, no memorial service has been planned. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that charitable contributions to the Springfield Regional Arts Council be made in Walter's name.
