Springfield Public Schools announced new principals for Reed Academy and Jarrett Middle School on Feb. 22. The two will begin their new jobs on July 1, in advance of the upcoming school year. 

Robin Collins was chosen as the principal for Reed Academy. Currently an assistant principal at Hillcrest High School, Collins also worked as an educator, coach and Explore principal with Springfield Public Schools. 

During her time at Hillcrest she was part of the administration that prepared for a campus renovation completed in June 2022. She has worked with SPS since 2001. 

Collins has a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Missouri State University. She earned her master’s in athletics and activities administration and a specialist’s degree in educational administration from William Woods University.

She replaces Bret Ingle, who has been chosen as the new principal for Williams Elementary.

Billy Gosnell was tabbed as the new principal for Jarrett Middle School. Currently an assistant principal for secondary students in Launch Virtual Learning, he has worked in various middle school positions for SPS since 2000. 

He has been an assistant principal at Carver Middle School for 11 years, and was also an administrative liaison, summer school assistant principal, teacher and coach at Jarrett. 

Gosnell earned a bachelor’s degree in education and master’s degree in educational administration from Missouri State University, as well as a specialist’s degree in educational leadership and policy analysis from University of Missouri-Columbia.

He replaces Kirk Slater, who is retiring after a 23-year career with SPS.
