Springfield R-12 Public Schools joined a long list of school districts throughout Southwest Missouri in announcing schools would be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 9.
The announcement from Springfield cited “winter weather and the forecast for slick roads, especially during the afternoon commute.” Both seated classes and virtual instruction were canceled.
District offices remain open, although many people will be working remotely.
Announcements about the status of other district events, including a school board meeting set for Tuesday evening, will be shared on the district's Facebook and other social media pages.
