Check out the new collection for Sculpture Walk Springfield at a special event April 23 at Park Central Square. The new exhibit includes 36 works from 32 artists.
The 2022 Collection Celebration is scheduled for 5 to 9 p.m. It’s free to attend. There will be live music, mini-tours of new works, new Sculpture Walk Springfield swag and drinks from Tie & Timber Beer Company.
This year’s collection features artists from across the country and — for the first time in Sculpture Walk Springfield history — an international artist from Canada. New Sculpture Walk Springfield branding will be featured on the 2022 collection and numerous works will highlight and acknowledge the efforts of the health care community through the pandemic.
“This specially curated segment of our exhibit is our Thank You letter to all health-care workers for the exemplary dedication and perseverance showed through the most difficult of days, and for the continued delivery of high-quality care to all moving forward,” said Avery Parrish, Sculpture Walk Springfield executive director. “SWS is thrilled to be hosting this event for the community.”
The 7th Annual Sculpture Walk Springfield collection is presented by the McQueary and O’Reilly families. Sculpture Walk Springfield is a free, outdoor and fully accessible self-guided “museum.” All event information can be found on the Sculpture Walk Springfield page on Facebook.
MIDxMIDWEST set for September debut
After a pandemic-related postponement in 2021, the inaugural MIDxMIDWST Mural Art & Culture Festival is scheduled for Sept. 10-11, founder and organizer Meg Wagler announced March 22.
“I’m elated to bring this to the public in an official capacity,” Wagler said. “Postponing in 2021 was a heartbreak after our team had worked so hard for so long to bring this to life — but for me it has never been a matter of if, but when. We’ve been patient, persistent and unwavering in the vision of MIDxMIDWST to bring SGF something new and transformative. We’re so excited the time is finally here to showcase what we’re about.”
All tickets purchased for 2021 will be honored for the rescheduled event, while new ticket sales begin May 6. Artist and band lineups will be unveiled later this spring or in early summer. Visit the official MIDxMIDWST website for more information.
