A panel of judges selected winners of the second annual C-Street Floral Stroll — after “much debate” and decisions to add honorable mention awards in each category.

Florists competed along a one-mile stretch of Springfield’s Historic Commercial Street on June 27. Winners in four categories received engraved “Golden Scissors” on July 3. Flowers were displayed in creative arrangements along C-Street.

The C-Street Merchants Association organized the event that reportedly drew hundreds of people to Commercial Street.

Visitors also had the opportunity to visit dozens of shops and eat at one of the many international restaurants that occupy the buildings on Commercial Street, as well as take in the weekly farmers’ market, said Connie Rhoades Hinds, director of the C-Street Merchants Association.

“Commercial Street is one of the most unique and enjoyable dining and shopping areas in the state,” Rhoades Hinds said. “Adding this additional layer of beauty and enjoyment makes this a place where you just want to come and stay.”

The C-Street Merchants Association thanked the florists who participated in the event and thanked Baisch and Skinner, a Springfield-based wholesale flower distributor that donated surplus flowers for the designers to use in their creations.

Planning is already underway for the 2025 event that is scheduled to take place on the first Saturday in June. You can learn more about the C-Street Floral Stroll and other events at the Historic Commercial Street website.
