Springfield’s short film festival returns to Moxie Cinema May 12-15.

SATO48 will screen more than 60 films in 55-minute blocks throughout the weekend. There are a total of 20 opportunities to see the films, including six screenings on Saturday.

“Springfield and the Ozarks 48-Hour Film Challenge” is the full name of the festival. Filmmaking teams create an original 5-minute movie from start to finish in one weekend. The films span many genres.

The twist? The filmmakers don’t know what their movie must be about until they receive their informational packet. The completed and submitted films move on to the screenings. Attendees and fellow filmmakers vote for their favorites to determine the Best Of. An awards and recognition ceremony is scheduled for June 4 at the Gillioz Theatre.

Tickets are $6 per screening and can be purchased online or at the Moxie Cinema box office. For more information visit the SATO48 website.
