Lunch-goers around downtown Springfield in the mood for Asian food have a few new options.
Kimbrough Asian Cuisine Cafe opened in December near Missouri State University, owner Gabriella Colorado said. The cafe, located at 625 S. Kimbrough Ave., features dishes like Springfield-favorite cashew chicken, fried rice, lo mein and many more.
While business has been slow over the university's winter break, Colorado said she expects it to pick up when students return in January. She is leasing the building that was previously Rice House, which is in walking distance from the college campus.

Just one mile away off of South National Avenue, the owners of Rami Thai Cafe opened a sister restaurant to expand their Thai cuisine empire in downtown Springfield. The kitchen at Rami Thai was too small for any expansion, so the family decided to open Thai Square, located at 307 S. National Ave., in late-2023, said owner Milin Natsanga.
Thai Square, just a quarter of a mile from its sister restaurant, around the corner of Walnut Street, will feature a rotating menu highlighting a number of traditional Thai dishes. The menu features Sukhothai noodles, khao man gai, authentic Thai larb and many more dishes, Natsanga said.
