Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching, and even as reservation books are filling up, it’s not too late to figure out plans to celebrate the holiday, whether on Feb. 14 or this weekend.
While restaurants are the go-to route for many on Valentine’s Day, there are plenty of other events to choose from in the Springfield area.
Not all restaurants take reservations, but for those that do, calling ahead to save your spot for a Valentine’s dinner, whether on Feb. 14, or this weekend, can help avoid having to wait for a table or being turned away.
Food and beverage options on and around Valentine’s Day:
- Valentine’s Wine Dinner at Vineyard Market - 1759 W. State Hwy J Ozark, Mo. 65721
Ozark’s winery and lounge is hosting a Valentine’s Wine Dinner on Valentine’s Day, beginning at 5 p.m., with a menu featuring salmon, ribeye filet mignon and French wine pairings.
- Valentine’s Day at Houlihan’s - 2431 N. Glenstone Ave. Springfield, Mo. 65803
Beginning Feb. 10 through 17, north Springfield’s Houlihan’s is hosting a three-course “Eat Your Heart Out” menu for $29.99 per person. Reservations can be made by calling (417) 862-7777.
- Valentine’s Day Dinner at The Order - 305 E. Walnut St. Springfield, Mo. 65806
The Order Food and Drink, located in the lobby of Hotel Vandivort in downtown Springfield, is offering a five-course menu for $100 per person with optional wine pairings for an additional $35. Reservations can be made on Tock.
- Valentine’s Dinner at Cellar + Plate - 2916 S. Lone Pine Ave. Springfield, Mo. 65804
Southwest Springfield’s communal wine house is hosting a prix-fixe Valentine’s Dinner for $50 per person, which includes a three-course dinner with optional wine pairings.
- Ruthie’s Valentine’s Day - 504 E. Commercial St. Springfield, Mo. 65803
Ruthie’s on C-Street will have their usual Tamale Tuesday on Valentine’s Day but, in addition, will have “Lady-and-the-Tramp-inspired” spaghetti and meatballs. They will also feature live music beginning at 7 p.m. with Timmy Miano and his band Timmy Miano and the Constant Distractions. Reservations are not required but seating is limited. - A Foxy Valentine at The Royal - 1427 E. Cherry St. Springfield, Mo. 65802
Rountree’s The Royal will feature guest bartender Dylan Fox on Feb. 11 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Food will be available for purchase a la carte alongside a special drink menu. Reservations are required.
- Beer, Wine, Cheese and Chocolate Festival at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds - 301 N. Grant Ave. Springfield, Mo. 65803
Although not necessarily a Valentine’s Day event, the 10th annual Beer, Wine, Cheese and Chocolate Festival conveniently falls on Feb. 11. Tickets are $30 if purchased ahead of time, or $35 at the door, which opens at noon on Saturday and closes at 4 p.m. The event is both a tasting and shopping experience, with a DJ, seminars and People’s Choice awards. All proceeds will go to help children in agriculture.

- DIY Valentine’s Cards at The Workshop at Finley Farms - 840 Finley Farms Lane Ozark, Mo. 65721
A coffee shop by day and event space by night, The Workshop at Finley Farms is hosting a DIY Valentine’s Card class on Sunday, Feb. 12, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. For $25, participants can learn how to make a personalized card using flowers, designer wallpaper, washi tapes, magazines, stamps and other recycled materials. Finger foods and coffee will be provided, with mimosas and pastries available for purchase.
- Painting With a Twist - 3444 S. Campbell Ave. Ste. G Springfield, Mo. 65807
Springfield’s Painting With a Twist, a chain art studio with over 240 locations, is hosting a number of Valentine's related events over the next several days. Several of the upcoming events have already sold out, and minimum age requirements differ for each one. Some events include food and BYOB (alcoholic and nonalcoholic) options.
- Cassidy Flower Co. at Estes Farms Grand Opening - 5176 N. Fremont Road Nixa, Mo. 65714
The second leg of Cassidy Station at Estes Farms, Cassidy Flower Co., is slated to hold its four-day grand opening beginning Feb. 10 at 10 a.m. and running through Valentine’s Day. Patrons can create their own bouquets or buy a ready-to-go arrangement.
- The Melody Room: Red and Black Affair The Riff - 1900 W. Sunset St. Springfield, Mo., 65807
The live music venue is hosting “The Melody Room: Red and Black Affair,” a tiny desk inspired intimate concert series, on Feb. 11 beginning at 8 p.m. (doors open at 7 p.m.). General admission is $30 per person and a Couples VIP Package is available for $75. Remaining tickets will be sold at the door for $45. Guests must be 21 and up in order to attend. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
- Valentine’s Game Night at Galloway Station - 1281 E. Republic Road Springfield, Mo. 65804
The NSFWP (Not Safe For Worker Placement) Podcast, a podcast about board games, is hosting a game night at Galloway Station on Valentine’s Day, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. With food, drinks and giveaways, they’ll have two-player, four-player and party games available to play.
