Celebrate healthy, local food while connecting with your fellow community members at the inaugural Gardenpalooza event Saturday, June 4.
Gardenpalooza, hosted by Springfield Community Gardens, is 3-8 p.m. at Mother’s Brewing Company (215 South Grant Ave.). It’s free to attend, but guests are encouraged to register ahead of time and purchase “Garden Gold” to pay for food, beverages and special activities. Donations will also be accepted.
The family-friendly event offers something for everyone. Activities include:
- Garden-themed yard games
- Live music
- Food trucks
- Cooking demonstration featuring locally-sourced products
- A raffle
Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn about gardening opportunities in their neighborhoods.
Springfield Community Gardens is a nonprofit organization that helps support 17 gardens and three urban farms in the city. There is paid staff for the farms, while volunteers help run the gardens. Produce from the gardens is donated to the community through a partnership with Ozarks Food Harvest.
