Springfield drivers and churchgoers, be on the lookout for some 3,000 runners and a handful of street closures Sunday morning.

The Bass Pro Marathon races begin at 7 a.m. Sunday at Bass Pro Shops on South Campbell Avenue.

Marathon weekend races include the 26.2 mile Conservation Marathon and relay, the 13.1 mile Cohick Half Marathon and the CMC Recycling 5K.

Bass Pro Shops Conservation Marathon has been named the Best Marathon in Missouri by RaceRaves, which polled thousands of runners across all 50 states and 45 countries to determine the ultimate guide of running events nationwide.

The Bass Pro Fitness Series challenges the registered neighborhoods along the race route to cheer on runners with themed aid stations, presenting the winning neighborhood with a monetary grant for neighborhood beautification and improvement projects.

Activities kick off Friday at the White River Conference Center with a free health and wellness expo open to the public, featuring more than 40 health and wellness vendors. All races begin Nov. 5 at the flagship Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World and end just around the corner at the White River Conference Center.
