The Springfield Symphony Orchestra will wrap up its season of dance music with a festive evening of Flamenco music on May 7. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. at Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts.

The Symphony will be joined by the Flamenco group Ensemble Iberica, from Kansas City. Hear the rhythms and melodies of Spain as the orchestra is joined by guitar, percussion and vocals.

“I am really excited to finish out our season with a concert of Flamenco music,” said Kyle Wiley Pickett, music director and conductor for SSO. “I’m also really thrilled to be working with Ensemble Iberica. Flamenco is such a beautiful style — the dancing, the guitars, the rhythms and the folk-style singing are so evocative of the people and history of Spain. Our Flamenco performers will be featured both on their own and with the full orchestra backing them up. This is a concert I have been looking forward to all year long.”

Masking is no longer required for Springfield Symphony Orchestra events, though masks are recommended for this performance. Tickets are $10-$45 dollars, with discounts for students and seniors, and can be purchased at the Hammons Hall box office by calling (417) 836-7678 or visiting www.hammonshall.com.

Single Livestream access starts at $22 per household and is available for purchase from SSO. For more information on Springfield Symphony health and safety guidelines, concerts and events, and more, visit www.springfieldmosymphony.org.
