In December 2020, the U.S. Congress passed the CARES Act, an omnibus spending bill packed with federal relief funding in response to the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the public health safety measures taken in effort to reduce the spread of the SARS CoV-2 virus.
Emergency rental assistance funds were allocated and extended a second time when Congress passed the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) in March 2021.
