OPINION|

by Dr Gary Buzbee, Springfield

I served on the Springfield school board from 1983-1990. I was appointed to Roseann Bentley’s seat in 1983 when she was appointed to the state Board of Education. I ran in 1986. I spent $250 for flyers to take to places I spoke. It is obviously a different time.

I know what I want in a school board member. Let me share with you.

I want someone that puts the needs of all Springfield Public School students first and does not push a personal agenda.

I want someone that does not interrupt a program on sensitivity training as a representative of the school board.

I want someone that is not involved with “Mom’s for Liberty,” much less to try to bring them to a school board meeting.

I want someone that will leave the books in the library alone.

I want someone who will listen to students, parents and teachers for insight in tackling problems.

I want someone that is interested in keeping and maintaining a safe environment in our schools.

I want someone who will listen and heed the advice of our educational professionals.

I do not think this is too much to ask.

I will be supporting Danielle Kincaid, Coach Susan Provance and Scott Crise. Give them a look. You will not be disappointed.
